Your Questions, Answered

  • At the start of therapy, we will take time to understand your goals, what you’ve tried in the past, and what has—or hasn’t—been effective.

This is where true personalization begins. We will work to understand how you perceive the world and make decisions within that framework, identify behavioral patterns that both support and hinder your progress, and offer practical interventions to enhance your overall outcomes all while driving you toward a values aligned life.

Effective therapy is a blend of science and art and at the heart of all sessions is two people having a conversation. Like any meaningful exchange, some sessions will feel light and energizing, while others will be more challenging and deep—and shades of everything in between.

  • I understand that time is a valuable resource. For many, the added commute to and from therapy can turn a 50-minute session into a two-hour commitment. While virtual sessions offer convenience, they are not always the preferred format for every client.

As a solution, I offer on-site therapy, and will travel to your home or office. This premium service is available at a separate rate. Prior to any on-site sessions, the therapist and client will confirm that the location provides a private and secure space.

  • No. But I will help make out-of-network coverage easy if you’re seeking insurance reimbursement.

Private-pay therapy offers flexibility, privacy, and personalization that is often limited by insurance-based models. My work is tailored to your goals—not insurance codes—and is designed to support long-term growth, insight, and results.

Many clients are able to get some reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company.

Please note that Parenting Coaching services are not classified as a clinical healthcare service; therefore, they are generally ineligible for insurance reimbursement and will not be included on a superbill.

  • A superbill is a specialized document provided by your therapist that allows you to seek reimbursement directly from your insurance company.

If you are seeing an out-of-network provider (that’s me), you will pay the full fee upfront. The provider then gives you a superbill, which you submit to your insurance carrier as a formal claim.

To check your out-of-network benefits, contact your insurance provider by calling the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card. Many insurers also offer Live Chat support on their websites.

  • To check your out-of-network benefits, call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card or use the Live Chat feature on their website.

These are some helpful questions to ask:

    • Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy?

    • What are my reimbursement rates for specific billing codes?

Let them know the codes we might use: 90791 (initial intake), 90834 (45-minute individual session), and/or 90847 (couples therapy).

    • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?

For example, if your plan covers 60% of a $275 session, you’d receive $165 back.

    • Is there a "maximum allowed amount" (fee cap)?

Some plans only reimburse a percentage up to a certain limit. For instance, if the cap is $200 and your coverage is 60%, you’d get $120 back even if the session fee is higher.

    • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much have I already met?

This is the amount you pay out-of-pocket before insurance kicks in. It’s helpful to know how close you are to reaching it.

    • What is my policy period?

This tells you when your deductible resets (usually January 1st, though some plans differ).

    • How do I submit claims, and what is the deadline?

Confirm the submission process (portal, mail, or app) and how long you have to submit your Superbills.

  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee. This policy ensures respect for your therapist’s time, supports scheduling availability for other clients, and reinforces your own commitment to the work.

I understand that life is unpredictable and reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate rescheduling requests. However, late cancellations and no-shows are not refundable.

  • Psychotherapy patients must live in New York state to receive psychotherapy services. However, non-professional services like coaching, consulting, and speaking can receive services (almost) anywhere in the world.
